Saturday's run of the Brooklyn Harriers was from Brooklyn, some fifteen runners being present. Owing to the smallness of the attendance, paper was; again dispensed* with, and tho choosing of a suitable.trail was left in the hands or S. Willis. The route lay alone the hills at the We of Athletic "Park until about half a mile from the Hn-ppy Valley beach. From there, it led down the hills to the Happy Valley road, and up again to Brooklyn. About four miles were covered, and, of necessity, a fair portion consisted of road. This was very much to the liking of the faster runners, and on the run home Henderson, Tipton, aiid the two Tbdds saw to it that a good fast pace was maintained. The usual handicap run-in was held, the^ distance being about 250 yards. N. K. Smellie made &ji excellent handicap, and the • runners were well bunched on passing the "finishinsTpost. The two scratch men. Walls And Tipton, both succeeded in gaining places: Result :'T. Tipton 1. M Walls 2, S. Willis* 3. Next Saturday tiis novice race will be contested from the Miramar terminus, and as the new members appear to be unusually keen, an interesting race should result.
