SOFT-HEARTED POSTMAN
FINED FOR AIDING A PRISONER. (BI TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This Day. At the Police Court, a .Postal official, whose name was ordered to be suppressed, was fined £10 on each of two charges of taking out letters from a prisoner in Mount Eden Gaol and taking him a parcel of tobacco, stamps, and envelopes. The evidence showed that Albert Charles Cajit, the prisoner concerned,' induced the Postal official, who called at the gaol l.for post bags repaired there, to take out a, number of letters, including one to his brother, suggesting a bogus petition for release. This was placed in a bag which accused missed, and its discovery by other officials led to police action.
