A PLEASANT TRIP

A most enjoyable voyage was experienced by passengers who arrived by the X.M.S. Tahiti from San Francisco, via Papeete and Rarotonga, at 8.15 yesterday. From start to finish the weather conditions were perfect. Among' the passengers from San Francisco to Papeete were a number of well known "movie" people, including Mr. Maurice Tourneur the famous producer, Miss AnitaStewart! ! Messrs. Bert Lytell, Lionel vßelmore, •George Seigman, and several others well' known to picture-goers. The company are at present.in Tahiti, where they are engaged in filming a screen version of Peter ■B. Kyne's novel, "Never the Twain Shal] Meet." Tyro fancy dress balls were held during the voyage, and on these occasions the deck presented a gay and beautiful sight. Sports committees in each class attended to the various deck sports and entertainments, and some strenuous competitions were held, concluding with two gymkhanas. Impromptu concerts and bridge tournaments helped to while away the evenings, and during the passage Professor MacmillaD Bro^n gave an interesting lecture on "The Future of the Pacific." A day was/spent at Papeete, and another at Earotonga, and facilities were given to the passengers to explore the many beautiful spots on these two romantic islands of the Pacific. Not a dull moment was experienced throughout the voyage, and general regret was felt when what was essentially a*pleasure trip came to an end on arrival at this port.
