CRICKET
MIDLAND CLUB'S MEETING,
The Midland Cricket Club held its annual meeting last evening, Mr. W. A. i arton presiding over a, large ■ atlendaneo of players and- supporters. ihe annual report, details of which have been published in '-The Post," was adopted. The balance-sheet showed that the club was in a sound financial position, there being a cash balance of £14 Vs 4cl. -It was pointed out, however, that certain of the lower-grade players had not been "coming up to scratch" with their subscriptions, some of them even having failed to pay their ground fees. This was a direct loss to theolub, and materially altered the financial position, which would have been much larger if the £25 outstanding could have been collected. Hutchings; honorary treasurer, Mr'. W. A. Baker; Management Committee, Messrs. W. .Johnson: 11. Osborne, J. H. Hutchiugs, L. G. Clarke, and A. 0-t-ant; honorary auditors, Messrs. IYI. j Hutchings, and V.: Edgar;, delegates 10 Wellington. Cricket Association, Messrs. W.--S: Hood, A. Doneghue, J. H. Hutchings, and W. A. Baker.
Mr. J. H. Hutchings" informed the meeting that a scheme was to be brought up at the- next meeting of the Wellington Cricket Association whereby each club would add the ground fees of each player to the subscription, thereby obviating the trouble of collecting the individual fees each Saturday. It was* decided that the general. feeling of, the meeting was that the scheme was a good one, but the delegates of the club to-the association: were given power to use their discretion In' the matter. The_ cup donated to the club by Mr. G. Winder for presentation to the most improved player in the club was presented, to Mr. L. G."-Clarke.''"".
A very hearty"-vote of ■-Thanks was passed to Mr. Hood, the senior team's scorer, for his long and valuable service'to the club. ■ '" ' ■
Mention was made that in the past season. J. H: Hutchings topped the batting average of the club with 45.20, while O'Connor topped the bowling with an average of 12.0..
