Mexico has severed relations with England by ordering the expulsion of Mr. Gordon Cummins, the British Charge d'Affairs, who is now hidden, in the British Legation, which is surrounded by police waiting for an, opportunity to convey- the formal notice of - expulsion. The incident was caused "by friction between the British and Mexican Governments, and also by a number of letters written by Mr. Cummins to friends in England, using terms and descriptions tiiat injured the dignity of Mexico. Officials gained access to these letters, and gathered other proofs purporting to show that Mr. Cummins made continued efforts to create friction between the Governments.
