"THE TORIES ALARMED"
LONDON, 11th December.
The "Daily Herald" states : "The Tories are alarmed at the readiness of Labour to take bfnij'e, and are pressing Mr. Baldwin to sacrifice the hope of getting , a 'moderate Government' supported by the Liberals. Their manoeuvring,. however, is hot likely to succeed. If Mr. Baldwin does riot resignhow, everything points to his being forced to g"6 when the House of Commons meets in January, and to Mr. Macdonald's acceptance of the King's invitation to form a Government." "Meanwhile," adds the "Daily Herald," "Lord Rothermere and Lord Beaverbrook are. busy planning to make Sir Robert Home Premier. If he refuses, they will boost the Liberals for a few months pending a fresh election." The whole situation will be reviewed by the Labour executives on Wecjnesday and Thursday.
