'.ALSIRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION) VANCOUVER, 10th Dec Lord Shaughnessy, the Canadian railway magnate, is dead. He died from heart disease complication. He participated in a Knights of Columbus parade on Sunday, when he over-strained himself.
Lord Shaughnessy was torn in the "United States, of Irish parents, in 1853, and his life was spent in the service of the Canadian-Pacific Railway, of wkich he became general purchasing agent in 1882. Subsequently lie became assistantgeneral manager and president. He was president and a director of many other companies, subsidiary to the C.P.R. He was knighted in 1901, and raised to the peerage in 1916. He was chairman of the board of directors of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, and director of several subsidiary roads, and was the sole survivor of the famous railway pioneers of Canada.
