LONDON, 11th December. The War invention? Commission heard the claims of Dr. Levenstein and Professor Green regarding the invention of mustard gas. Evidence was given that when the Ministry of Munitions attempted to make the, gas at Avonmouth, there Were 1400 casualties. Mustard gas was first used in the field in September 1918, when .the Hindenburg line was shelled for six hours. The hostile batteries immediately ceased fire, and were silent for twenty-four hdUi'B.
