LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP.
The > first round of the Wellington Ladies' Golf Club's championship was played at Heretaunga yesterday in fine weather. The results were as follow:— Seniors. • ■ - Miss M'Clure, a bye;- Miss Bell beat Mrs. Marchbanks', 7 up and 5 to play; Mrs. Ewen beat Miss Ward, I up; Mrs. Sclanders, a bye; Mrs. Birch beat Mrs. Brodie, 1 up at the twentieth; Mrs. Brandon beat Mrs. Weston, 2 and 1; Miss Gambrill beat Mrs* Less, 4 and 3; Miss M. Marchbanks, a bye. Juniors. Miss Plimmer beat Mrs. Turnbull, 2 and 1; Miss Wheeler beat Mrs. Holmus, 2 and 1; Miss Kiely beat Miss Dyor, 6 and 5; Miss J. Marchbanks beat Mrs. Young, 2 up. The second and third rounds of the senior championship, and- the second round of the junior championship are being played to-day.
