THE FINAL RESULTS
WONDERFUL ACHIEVEMENTS.

LONDON, 14th October. The gliding meeting has concluded. Flight-Lieutenant Longton, on a Wren monoplane, and Herbert Jones, on an A.N.E.C., tied for the " Daily Mail's " prize of £1000 and the Duke of Sutherland's prize of £500 by flying 87^ miles, the greatest distance on one gaflon of petrol.
Captain MacMillan, on a Parnell "Pixie, 1' secured the speed prize with 76.1 miles per hour. Mr. B. Hinkler, on an Avro, won the reliability prize by completing 1040 miles. M. Piercey, on an A.N.E.C., won the contest for the greatest height, by attaining 14,400 feet. His arrns^ and legs wore frozen whan he .descended.
