THE POPE'S ORDER
HOW WOMEN CALLERS MUST DRESS.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPSMOHT.)
(AUSTBALIAN - NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.)
(Received 2nd August, 11 a.m.) HOME, Ist August. A large -party of women was waiting in an ante-room at the Vatican for the Pope's reception, when Monsignor Marmaggi divided the women into two groups. It was some time before the women realised that only those whose arms and necks were covered were coing to be admitted to the Pope's presence. The rest, with low-necked dresses, remained outside, many of them crying bitterly. Monsignor Marmaggi said he had acted on the Pope's instructions. Henceforth, in order to avoid such scenes, all women not dressed in black and heavily veiled will be stopped at the entrance to the Vatican
