LONDON. 31st July. Sir W. Joynson-Hicks, replying to a question in the House of Commons, said the defence expenditure of Britain for the current year amounted to £2 18s 6d per head of tho population. The approximate cost per head in tho Dominions was: Australia, 17b lid; South Africa, 12s Id; New Zealand, lls 4d; Canada, 6s Bd. The Minister added that Jt was impossible to discriminate between the cost of internal defence iv tho self-governing Dominions and the contribution to Imperial defence.
