S.P.C.A.
The committee of the S.P.p.A. met on Monday last, when the president, Mr. F. Meadowcroft presided over a good attendance of members. It was reported that since the previous meeting the inspector had investigated several cases of alleged cruelty, and all had been dealt with satisfactorily. In the most serious case of cruelty the offender had been prosecuted, and was heavily fined. It was stated that £19 15s' had been donated to the funds of the society since the last meeting. The sum included £2 from Mr. F. Lownsborough, £1 Is each from Dr. F. »W. Kemp, Messrs. Thomas Bush, James Hamilton, J. G. Marshall and Co., Ltd., Bnscoe and Co., Ltd., -Hazlewood and Co., Cunard Shipping Company, Camphell Bros., Wellington' Farmers' Meat Company, and SI from Mrs-. Balcombe Brown.
