WAR ON LONDON
PLOT AVERTED BY ARRESTS.
LONDON, Hth April. Scotland Yard made another' dramatic swoop at midnight on the homes of persons supected to be actively plotting in England on behalf of the Irish rebels. Motors conveyed the detectives simultaneously to Greenwich, Woolwich, and Bermondaey, where important documents were oaptured. . The raid was planned with the utmost secrecy. , All the suspects were surprised, and many were in bed.
The London raid was the sequel to the last month's round-up, when documents were found, the contents of which are now disolosed for the first time./ The police discovered a roll of menibera of a special section of the rebel army operating in London, with elaborate plans for the destruction of underground stations, attacks on Cabinet Ministers and other high officials, yaids on. prison vans, the destruction of light, power stations, and the secret enlistment of London police in ths rebel forces. Details given of Brixton Gaol formed a complete guide book, with the names of warders and the times of duty. Scotland Yard was similarly listed, and the Old Bailey exits and the routes of prison vans were described with a viow to rescuing the prisoners.
The youngesfc member of the special section was aged sixteen and none was over twenty-two. Details w.ere given of their qualifications in revolver and rifle shooting and motor driving.
Although many houses were searched last night, only two men were detained. They were charged with possessing fire arms. The police have a firm grip of ihe conspiracy, and the plans were frustrated.
