REFERENCE TO THE PEOPLE.
At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Alliance, which, has just been held in Wellington, a new scheme of organisation and .alteration in the constitution was considered at length and finally adopted. A paper entitled "Our Young Citizens" was read By the Rev. T. H. Radford, and addresses were delivered by Messrs. H. S. Adams and J. M. Murray. Convention resolved: "That this convention states that the Prohibition. Party was in no way responsible for the failure of The Legislature to make provision for reference of the liquor question to the will of the people in event of Prohibition being carried. The Prohibition Party has no objection to such reference being made should reasonable demand be made by the people:" "That this conference reaffirm its demand for a revision of the law in regard to rolls, providing for compulsory enrolment and voting in precento or subdivision."
