HOMING PIGEONS
The first race in No. 2 hamper for young birds was held from Hnnterville (101^ miles) on Saturday, and resulted as follows;.—1. Hoare Bros, blue hen, 1130 yards per minute; 2. J. Bruce's blue hen, 1126.7 yards per minute; 3, G. Wilson's blue eh. hen, 1126.4 yards per minute; 4, W. Whittington's blue prid. cock, 11125.9 yards per minute; 5, J. H. Clark's blue eh. w.f. hen, 1125.7 yards per minute; 6, R. Hastie's blue cock, 1122.2 yards per minute. The winner receives the trophy donated by Mr. Geo. Hoare. On Saturday next the final race in No. 1 hamper will be flown Irom Auckland (315 miles).
