GAS COMPANY.
The employees of the .Wellington Gas Company held their annual picnic at Mnidstone Park, Upper Hntt, yesterday. Although the weather was threatening in t_« moraine, there was a large and enthusiastic attendance. Amongst those present was the company's general managjer, Mr. M. J. Keunedy. ( The results of the sporte were:—Men's 100 yds race, H. Ogden 1, T. Meade 2; single ladies' race, Miss E. Hepburn 1, Miss D, Ling 2; men's race, E. Hepburn 1, E. Sayer 2; married women's race, Mrs. Mann 1, Mrs. Donaldson 2; married women (visitors), Mrs. Anderson 1, Mrs. Hedges 2; threading-needle race, H. Ogden 1, H. Smallbone 2; egjj and spoon race, Mrs. Donaldson 1, Mrs. Montgomery 2; visitors' race (men), P. R. Lena 1, J. Donaldson 2; young ladies' race, H. Dentice 1. E. Hepburn 2; handsmen's race, B. Donoghue 1, A. Davis 2; elopement race, Mrs. Mann 1, Mrs. Bennett 2; Gas Company championship, rS. Rod 1, J. Donaldson 2. .Numerous other race were contested by almost all the boys and girls present, and guessing competitions were indulged in. The success of the picnic was due to excellent work of the committee find the invaluable assistance given by the company's Keneral manager.
