WELLINGTON CLUB'S REPORT

- The directors of the Wellington Bowling Club, in their thirty-sixth annual report, congratulate members on the continued prosperity of the club and itis sound financial position. During the year ended 31st May thirty-one new members were elected, and the loss by resignation and other causes was fourteen, leaving a total membership of 243. The winners of the club competitions during the season were: Champion singles, Mr. E. E. Manley; champion pairs, Messrs. J. B. Brinsden and J. Porteous; champion rinks, Messrs. W. J. Osborn, W. Grenfell, W. J. Thompson, and J. Porteous;, president's an 9 vice-president's trophies, Messrs. J. M. Dawson, F. Crease, S. T. Wickstead, and F. J. Gooder, the runners-up being Messrs. C. Bray, M. Bird, A. Hamilton, and F. Tasker. The Wellington Centre rink championship was won by Messrs. A. Marshall, A. E. Duncan, J. Fairway, and E. H. Fountain (s). The club took part in the usual interclub matches, and was successful in winning its section in the contest for the Pennants. In the champion of champions competitions the club was represented, but without favourable result.., The annual match, Christchurcb. v. Wellington (friendly | bowl) took place on the Christchurch 1 green on Thursday, 23rd February, and i resulted in a win for the Christchurch ' Club. The outing was much enjoyed by the Wellington players, who were treated most hospitably. The Duthie Cup competition took place on the Hutt Club's green on Thursday, 16th February, and resulted in a win for the Hutt teams. The visitors were entertained ■in a manuer worthy of the best traditions of the Hutt Club. The annual match against the combined city and suburban clubs was played on Saturday, 11th February. Fifteen rinks took part, and the match resulted in a win for the Wellington Club. The billiard tables continue to be a source of pleasure to the members, and are now free from debt. Much of the.success of tKe billiard-room is due to the interest taken by Mr. F. Tasker. The directors are confident that the balance-sheet will be found satisfactory by the shareholders, and they p*ay a warm tribute to the work of the hon. treasurer, Mr. I. Salek. It is noted that not one single subscription is overdue. The directors record with deep regret the death of five members—Messrs. J. Blundell, P. C. Corliss, X, GJlmer. 3. Smith, and F. Stace.
