MUSIC AND ORATORY
The musical contests in connection with the second annual musical and oratorical contests held under tho auspices of the Young Men's Metho*st Bible Class Union began in Wesley Hall, Taranakistreet, on Saturday evening. The entries were of a high standard, and the appreciation of the audience, numbering about 200, together with the tributes paid by the judge (Mr. Robert Parker), were sufficient testimony to the success of the evening. The results wore as follow:—Pianoforte solo, Miss D. Holyer and Miss H. Swift (equal) 1, Miss Wmnie Cooley 2. Sacred solo, Mr. William Armstrong 1, Miss D. Maxwell 2. Vocal duet, Missea Richardson and Maxwell 1, Misseß D. and E. Worbojs 2. Humorous solo, Miss E. Worboys I Miss D. Maxwell 2. •
Tho oratorical contests will be held next Saturday.
