A SERIOUS CHARGE
A well-dressed young man named Allen Percival William Fowler, whose ago was stated to be 20 years, made his appearance before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court to-day to answer a charge of a serious offence against a girl. Chief-Detectivo Kemp appeared for (he prosecution, .and the accused was represented by Mr. E. G. Jellicoe. The 'Jourt. was cleared during the hearing of tha e\idence, at the conclusion of which Mr. Jellicoe submitted that the accused had no case to answer. The Magistrate, although remarking that tho case might not be'a very strong one, decided to send it befcro a jury. The accused pleaded not guilty and was committed to'the Supremu Court for trial.
