ST. PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATIONS
The St r Patrick's Day Celebration Committee • has been fortunate m engaging Miss Winnie Fraser .for the IrishNational Concert .at the Town Hall i'U Friday, 17th March. She has a soprano voice of line qual'.ty and is specially effective in Irish and Scotch songs. , Mr. G. H. Andrews, tho Timaru baritone, is said to bo in fine form. The local artists are Misses Teresa M'linroe 1 and Mabello Esquilajit, Mr. H. F. WoocC* and the Lyric Quartette, and with • their aid the high standard of these concerts will bo maintained. The box plan will be opened at the Bristol Piano Company on Kenday, and patrons are urged to book their seats oarly. Tho sports will take place on Saturday, tho 18th- March, at Newtown Park, ami everything possible is boing done by tho committee to make this part of tho celebration an enjoyable day' for those «'ho attend. -The athletic .progrsunmo should draw large entries, whilst tho cinneinz programmo will keep the jiancing officials busy. The Now Zealand Irish Jig and Irish Reel championships will bo competed for. Mr. E. Reidy, of Thames, will act is judge. A feature of tho attractions ut Newtown Park will be tho spectacular figure drill display by iOM children, ,
