PETONE v. HUTT.
The bowlers had the best of the day in the match between Petone and Hutt on the Basin Reserve. Gedye and H. E. Nicholls opened the innings--for Petone against the bowling of M'Girr and Nunn. Wickets fell thick and fast, and only Gedye, could stand up against the bowling. He made a most valuable 42 out of Petone'e 81, and saved his side from an ignominious score. M'Girr took five wickets for 22 runs, Nunn three for 38, and Balks two for 12. Hutt, taking a turn, did very little better against Finlayson bowling with the wind and Brice against it. Aldersley stuck it out for 24, and M'Girr and ' Condliffe formed a useful partnership with 35 and' 32 respectively. The score, when stumps were drawn, was 113 for nine wickets. 1 Brice took six for 41, FinlayBon three for 40. Following are details:— , . i PETONE—First Innings. Gedye/ lbw, b Nunn 42 H. E.
