At the monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court, Petone, Mr. ]?. K. Hunt, S.M., presiding, J. B. Sass, for a breach of a prohibition order, was fined 10s; H. O. Barrett, for using abusive language to a train guard, 20s-and £1 7s costs; Erick Doull and W. J. Ives,. for : driving 1 motor-cars on the Hutt-road cycle track, each £5 and 7s costs. P. Sealey.'who applied for a rehearing of his case, on a .similar charge, had his fine .of £5 reduced to a conviction and costs. A secondhand dealer, W. M'Jenlcins, charged with purchasing books from children under 16 years of age, was fined £2 10s, with 7s costs. For driving motor-cars at an. excessive speed, C, E. Bidwill, Linda Pfcst, and Sidney Walliti were each fined £2 and 7s _ costs. Herbert Ranson, for failing to give the name of, the driver of a motor-car, was fined £2 and £1 10s 6d COSts. . . ■ , .V :

In the civil business heard, judgment was given by default in the following .cases: W. h. Jenness v. Fred Butcher, £3 14s 5d and £1 7s 6d costs; A.' Liebezeit v. J. Mills, £4 3s and £1 4s 6d costs. In judgment summons cases, M. Gregory was ordered to pay D. J. M'Guvk £13 10s by_ instalments of 10s a month, or suffer thirteen days' imprisonment.. J. Sullivan was ordered, to give up possession of a tenement within one month, and pay tho aum of £18 17a, with £2 6a costs.
