PETONE AFFAIRS
•—*-" The fortnightly meeting of the Petone Borough Council was held last evening. Present: Mr. J. W. M'Ewan (Mayor) and Councillors C. P. Brooklebank, M. Ford, J. L. Ohurchouse, R. H. Jones, W. Hay, A. Anderson, D. S. Bedingßeld, G. Cook, and R; A. Hartley. Mr. J. Taylor made application for the right to conduct a refreshment' stall on the Recreation Ground on Saturdays. Consideration of the matter was held over until the next meeting. ' It was decided to support the Invercargill Borough Council in a protest to the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding the increased charges for auditing accounts. The Reserves Committee was appointed to represent the Council to act with the War Memorial Committeo in choosing a site for the memorial stone. , , The Central Bowling Club notified its acceptance of material to be used later in erecting a pavilion.
