One builder is leaving the district. , Mr. A. J. Patchett, of the Eketahuna Post" Office staff, has been transferred to Wanganui, and Mr. Pettigell to Hinakura. ■ Both were recipients of farewell presentations. The Rev. G. T. Brown, M.A., of Masterton, unveiled a.war memorial tablet in the Pahiatua Presbyterian Church on Sunday. '_ ■ Sister H. 1 Every, who has been Plnnket nurse at Masterton for the past eighteen months, has resigned owing to ill-health. ' Mr. Charles Matthews, aged 69, a settler at Pongaroa, died in Masterton yesterday. He was a son- of Mr. Jacob Matthews, one of the: pioneer settlers of the district. ' ■ , A pleasant little ceremony took .place' yesterday afternoon,, when the staff of Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., presented the former manager, Mr. E. L. Holmwood, with a suit case. The presentation was made by the manager, Mr. R. W. Steel, who spoke of the high esteem in which Mr. Holmwood was held by his late staff. Mr. Holmwood suitably replied. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Morrison, of Awatoitoi, are in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Chennells, of Masterton,, are. in Christchurch.
