A RE-TRIAL
The re-trial of- a watersider, Hendry Mearns, upon, a charge of having stolen butter valued at £5, the property of persons unknown, was concluded at the Supreme Court before his Honour Mr. Justice Reed and,a jury of twelve this morning. An 'alternative charge of having received the butter, knowing it to have been stolen, was also laid against Meams. ■ . ■ Counsel for the defence, Mr. A. B. Sieywright, addressed the jury, and after the Crown Prosecutor's reply and his Honour's summing up, the jury retired at 11.20 a.m. (Proceeding.)
