The course 'followed ,the,; beach for a mile, -then . struck ] i off', in a northerly direction to the golf house, the' return being via the sewer reserve and Oneuuroad. The,handicaps were on the generous side, A. Page on scratch, conceding starts up to five minutes and a half. iJi. Day and R, MentipUy were in tho lead after the first mile had been negotiated,, the former eventually drawing out and winning^ easily by over a hundred yards. J. C. Souness was the next man home. He was closely challenged by J. KnowlesSmith. The full result was as follows: : E. Day, 4min 40sec, 1.; J. C. Souness, J 2mih • lOseo, 2; J. Knowles-Smith, lmin j 50sec, 3. The winner, Day, haß, been a consistent tryer throughout the season, and thoroughly deserves this hie first success for his perseverance. Page, from scratch, ran a very fast race, but the handicaps were too much for him. BROOKLYN CLUB. . • For-the weekly run of the Brooklyn Harriers, the trail led over the hills to Happy Valley, down towards the sea for about a mile, and then up the hills! on the other side. At this stage a turn was made; and, proceeding along the" ridge in a. northerly direction for some distance, the course dropped down into Happy Valley again, and thence home. A 220 yards race at tho finish resulted in T. Collins, F. S. Hili, and F. Harlen gaining the places in that order. Smellie, Poutawera, and TodcT, who were conceding generous starts, made the Taco very interesting by the way they broke through the pack, but found the distance a little too short*to overcome, their handicaps. After the run, tea was dispensed, to "the runners and supporters, followed by a very pleasant evening, for which tho club is extremely indebted to Mies /Manley, who has always* taken a. great interest in harriers. Apart from the three men selected to represent the province in the Dominion championships at the Hutt Park next Saturday, the following club members will compete individually':. C. Dentioe, P. Harvey, FI Harlen, and J. Futter. ■ " : ■■ " -; WELLINGTON CLUB. Tho run of the Wellington Harriers on J Saturday took place from the Kelburqn Kiosk. Paper was dispensed with, ant! the pack, in charge" of C. Rowberry, vicecaptain, started off down tho steps, and through the Basin, where a turn was made for Garden-road. This was followed as far as Crief-str'eet, and then up the hill to Northland. A turn was then made towards tho wireless station, and. down through WadoEtown to Wilton's Bush. The gourse led through the_ bush, and along the stream, until Creswick-road was reached. Here the pack made a turn for homo, via - the tunnel,' and • suspension bridge, and Uplandrroad. A handicap run in overl, the last 400 yards resulted in A. Hill being first and N. Bardsley getting up in time to make a dead heat for second place with W. Weston. A trophy was presented for a sealed place *in the runMn by Mr. L. Salek, and this was won by_ Ray Watson. , ,
