DOMINION BOY SCOUTS

The Chief Commissioner, CaptainCossgrove, arrived in town to-day from Palmerston .North with the object of being present at the field day and demonstration of the Wellington Boy Scouts, to Ibe- held on the Lower Hutt R&reation Ground to-morrow afternoon. As this is the Commissioner's first official visit to Wellington, the boys are taking a great interest in it, and hope by their general appearance and demeanour .on parade to convince that they »re not, these days, "the bad boys" of the family. The Railway Department has notified that Boy Scouts in uniform up to the a.ge of 16 years will be allowed to travel at half-price by the train, a request that the boys be carried free being refused. The Lambton Station should be a busy scene at 12.30 to-morrow, when the boys are entraining.

On arrival at the Lower- Hutt the. Scouts will fall in, and, headed by the Lower Hutt Scout Band, N will march through the streets to the Recreation Ground. ' Tho parade will -march past the Chief Commissioner, who will take tlie salute at the bandstand.

The order of the various competitions will be :—March Past, ambulance and signalling, military drill and marching, White House trophy (pole drill), parade fire lighting, and firemen's competition, with the band events—side drummer, bass drummer, trumpeter, bugler, and best band—sandwiched in between, the other, competitions.

As a great nrifnber of the Boy. Scouts play under its jurisdiction, the Boys' Cricket League has acceded to the request to' postpone all its matches tomorrow afternoon. The league authorities have decided to play senior and junior trial games in view, of representative matches at Easter, with the proviso that any of the'boys selected for these games" who have to take part in the Scout demonstra, tiqn ,will, be considered when the final selections are being made. The courtesy, of the Boys' Cricket League in this connection is much appreciated by the officials of the Boy Scouts.

A committee of citizens of the Lower Hutt is co-operating with the Scout officers in the carrying out of tue function, and the indications' are that the turn-out to-morrow afternoon will be a fine advertisement for'the Boy Scout movement, and one to be remembered for some time to come.
