The first distanoe, 50 yards, of tho President's Cup competition, conducted by the Wellington Amateur Swimming Club, was decided at Te Arc Baths last evening, with the following result:—' First hottt—A. Russell, jun., 3sec, 1; J.. ComVay, Isec, 2; V. Salek, 3sec, 3. Also started:, R. Smith, 7soc; S. Prince, 38eo; T. Wilson, lseo." Time, 34seo. Second heat—J. Emerson, scr, 1; L. Salek,. scr, 2; W. J. Look, Bor, 3. Also' started: N Rojvntree, Isec; F. JFerguson, sor. Time,\3osec.
Final heat—J; Emorson, 1; L. Salek, 2; Russell, jun., 3. TimeV 31 2-ssec. A splendid finish.
This club will commence.the races for boys with tho first.distpjace, .50 yards, of the Lloyd- Cup this afternoon.
