LONDON, 7th October A War Office communique states 1: Oar relief column moving on Samawah has reached DaTraji station, 28 miles from the town. Reconnoitring aeroplanes observed "all well" signals from the Kufa garrisons, but Arabs are destroying tbe Kufa-Nejef line. The rearguard of a column marching toward Hillah from Bagdad, was attacked at Mahmudiyah, which is nineteen miles south of Bagdad, by insurgents, who were dispersed' by an armoured train.
A communique reports the submission of a large number of tribes in the middle] and upper Euphrates districts.
