LOCAL BILLS.
The Lytteltori. Harbour Board Loan Bill was .put through its final stages in the_ House of Representatives yesterday. This- measure gives the board power to 'borrow £150,000, at a maximum rate of 5£ pei; cent., to be expended in the construction of electric capstans, .additions to wharves, electric . cranes, and the deepening of the harbour. Christchurch members present made it plain that while they-supported the Bill they, looked for the time when there would 'be a port of Christchurch.
The Napier Harbour Board Empowering and Loan Amendment Bill was also passed." 'It provides, for borrowing £250,000, the balance of a previous authorisation of £300,000 for harbour improvements at 5£ per cent. The Ocean Beach Public Domain Amendment Bill, to provide for the upkeep of a Dnnedin beach reserve, was also put through all stages. -
