CONSULTING ITS CUSTOMERS.
Referring to a statement by the Prime; Minister tha£, the altered schedule of railway Tates would probably be brought into operation on Monday week, .Mr. A. S. Malcolm (Clutha) asked in the House of Representatives yesterday if the Railway Department had consulted the business and farming interests in regard to the increases, and, if not, would tne proposals be submitted to these bodies.
The Prime Minister said that he could only give an assurance that no. in justice would be done to any section of the community.' In such a matter they had to endeavour to treat all classes fairly. Mt. Malcolm: "But will they be consulted?"
Mr. Massey did not answer. Later Mr. Malcolm put the question on the Order Paper.
