DEVELOPING INDUSTRIES.
What form-the development of our industries, promised in the Government's policy published'prior to last election, is going to takers the subject of an inquiry addressed to the Prime Minister by Mr. W. H. Field, who wishes to know in particular whether the .Government will take such steps as will lea,d. to the much-increased extension of the woollenmanufacturing industry, and_ thus secure the manufacture into the finished article of a much greater proportion of our raw wool than the present woollen-manufac-turing- companies can deal with, the retention of the labour and profits of manu^ facture in the Dominion, and the reduction* of the cost of woollen goods to consumers in New Zealand.
