MATCH FOR PRINCE OF WALES

AGREED TO

; The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) has been informed by the Lender-Secretary for Internal Affairs (Mr. J. Hislop) that Sir William Fraser, who is in charge of the arrangements in connection with the visit of the Prince of Wales, lias tentatively agreed to the proposed football match in Wellington on Wednesday, sth May. The Prince will attend at 2.10 o'clock in the afternoon before leaving for Petone. Confirmation'of the fixture is subject to t/lie concurrence of His Royal Highness on his arrival at Auckland.

The proposal is that the match should b» .played between the ■ New Zealand team of returned soldiers who won the King's Cup, and the Wellington represen tatives, . who secured ■'the Banfurly Shiled last year. ' The proceeds from the match will go towards the formation of a. new park on the Town Belt near AVallace-street. Tliis park, it is proposed, should be called the Prince of Wale 3 Park. -
