SOCIALIST ULTIMATUM
THREAT DEFIED BY THE KING.

COPENHAGEN, 30th March. x Socialists have sent an ultimatum to the King stating that, unless' constitutional government is restored before 9 o'clock this morning, they will proclaim a general strike.- '■ Troops guarded the Castle during the night. A crowd greeted the soldiers with cries of " Long live the Republic." The King has refused to comply with the Socialist ultimatum.

The labour leaders will advocate a general strike to the Trade Union Congress on Wednesday . I The'sijreets are quiet, but there is intense ajjxiety among all classes. The railway .and postal employees say they will take part in the strike. The Social Democrats advocate a Republic, with a franchise for all over twenty-one.
