The King dismissed the Cabinet, alleging that it doe 3 not possess the people's confidence in regard to the Slesvig policy. Mr. Zable, the Premier, maintained that the Cabinet possessed the confidence of the Chamber, and said the demand for an election .was only raised outside- Parliament. The King insisted on the resignation of the Ministry. Zahle replied that he could not i;esign, as the Chamber had not expressed its distrust;' whereupon the King dismissed the Cabinet. He -asked Zahle to remain until a new Cabinet was formed, but Zahle refused, saying that those who had advised' the King to dismiss the Cabinet must be ready to take over the Government.
The democratic newspapers stigmatiso the King's action as a coup d'etat. Liebe, a lawyer, has undertaken to form a new Cabinet, with the Danish Minister in London, Mr. Castenkiold, as Minister for Foreign Affaire.
