IMPERIAL WAR CABINET
DOMINION REPRESENTATION
SCHEME NOT FINALLY SETTLED,
LONDON, 17th August.
Mr. Wi. F. Massey and Sir Joseph Ward are preparing for an early return. Mr. Massey, interviewed, emphasised that the War Cabinet scheme had not reached finality, but was still subject to ratification by the GovqTsoments and Parliaments of the Dominions. It must not be assumed that New Zealand would agree- to it. The summary published by The Times did not fully disclose the details. It. was understood that Mr. Lloyd George would issuo a statement, on Monday. Doubtless the scheme would be subject-ed to keen criticism in Australasia. As far as he personally was concerned, he hoped that the new development would lead to permanent representation on the Imperial Cabinet.
Sir Joseph Ward, interviewed, said the War Cabinet's decision only amounted to an invitation to the Dominions to send representatives. Asked it' it was probable that, ho would bo a nominee, he merely replied: "1 am now packing to go to New Zealand."
