DEATH OF M. ALBERT METIN

AMERICAN MISSION WILL CON-

TINUE ITS JOURNEY.

WASHINGTON, 16th August. M. Albert Metin and General Pau had reached a Pacific port en route to Australia to discuss war questions with, the Commonwealth Government. The party was welcomed enthusiastically. M. Metin became ill shortly after arrival, and was unable to participate in the festivities. He retired- to his room, but ■was found unconscious on the floor, and died almost immediately.

WASHINGTON. 17th August.

News from a Pacific port states that 51. Metin's body will lie in state at the City Hall until its removal for interment in France. Flags throughout the city are at half-mast. There is general mourning. The festivities have, been abandoned.'

It is understood that General Pau and" the other members of the mission will continue their journey to Australia.
