MAGISTRATE'S COURT

The sittings of the Magistrate's Court were to-day presided over by Mr. S. E. McCarthy, S.M.

For insobriety, five first offenders were fined 10b, in default 24 hours in the cells, and another had his bail (20s) estreated.

Thomas Jacobsen, a second offender, was given the choice of paying a fine of 20s or going to gaol for a week. William Augustus Callaghan, 50 years of ago, stood in the dock to answer a charge of indecent assault, but no evidence was taken, the accused being remanded to Wednesday next.
