SOLDIERS SENTENCED
For deserting when under orders for active service and losing equipment, the following soldiers have been sentenced by district court-martial, held at Trentham : —Private J. Robinson, Details (late 37th Rifles), 150 days' detention and 4s 7d stoppage of pay; Private F. Edlin, Details (late 36th Reinforcements), 100 days' detention and 2s lid stoppages of pay. A third soldier, lot being absent without leave and losing equipment, was sentenced to 56 days' detention. The sentences in each case are subject to remission when the accused, on going on .active service, reach a final port of disembarkation.
