DUNEDIN CENTRAL LABOUR OFFICE.

Despite obstacles met with early in its career the- Central Labour Office in Duneciin appears to be making- good jlrogreas. According to the. Hon. J. T. Paul (in the Otago Daily Times) tho first half-yearly report of the Board of Control discloses a- record of progress unprecedented in local Eabour history. The office started with two unions, with a membership of 650. To-day it has an affiliation of nine, with a membership of 1700. It has a credit balance of some £60. When it is rbmembered_ that the office pays rent of unions, capitation to tho Otago Labour Council, printing, postage, stationery, legal expenses, delegations, and has initiated' propaganda work, its record is commendable. The offioe has just published the first of a number of propaganda circulars. These circulars will be issued ■regularly, and will'deal with some question of current importance to organised Labour.
