APPROVAL OF MR. HUGHES.
In the British House of Commons a little while ago Mr. Snowden stated that i every Labour paper in Australia had repudiated the Australian Prime Minister, Hon. W. M. Hughes. This was not a fact, and is not a fact. Mr. Hughes has been criticised, by somo of tho Labour papers, cautioned by at least one (the "Australian Worker"), but repudiated by none (except in contributed columns), save those representing the section of Labour 'which Mr. Hughes himself repudiated in. strong terms before he left the Commonwealth. At least one paper took occasion to contradict Mr. Snowden's statement. At the conference of the New South Wales Political Labour League it was resolved, amid applause, on the motion of Mr. Holman, seconded by Mr. J- C. Watson : "That this conference expresses its warmest appreciation of the representation in England of Australian sentiment by the Prime Minister (Mr. Hughes), and sends to him its hearty congratulations and best wishes for a speedy return to health."
