CAPTAIN COOK ANNIVERSARY
(IT TILKRIVB — PRESS ASSOCIATION.) GISBORNE, This Day. The anniversary of Captain Cook's first landing in New Zealand was celebrated to-day by the laying of wreaths on Cook's monument from the Royal Colonial Institute and local bodies. A cable was received from the Institute of the London Council of Fellows of the Royal Colonial Institute :—": — " We heartily join in reverence for the memory of Captain Cook, who opened the southern seas for the British race."
