BOILER-MAKERS' "SOCIAL"

Members of the Wellington Boilermakers' Union held a smoke concert on Friday night, at which members who have enlisted were entertained. Mr. J. Daws6n presided. There were about eighty present, including members of other unions. Mr. J. E. Jenkinson proposed the health of the men who had joined the colours, and expressed the hope that those who were unable to go to the front would do what they could to assist in maintaining supplies of munitions. Possibly the Government might send come men to the Old Country with this object. Messrs. Wilson and Byrne, in response, spoke enthusiastically of their life at Trentham Camp, and urged all, eligible young men to enlist. Musical numbers were given by Messrs. O'Connell, Jennings, Thompson, Foley, Jeffrey, M'Ginnity, Findlayson, Buchanan, and Byrne. Accompaniments were supplied by Mr. L. Robinson.
