The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, 26th June. (Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot) : — Mutton.— There is a poorer demand for frozen mutton partly owing to large supply of Home-killed on account of the dry weather, but there is no change in prices. Canterbury, 7^d per lb for light weight j North Island, 7^d for light weight; ewes, 6§d. Lamb.--The market is quiet and the demand is chiefly for light weight, even of -ordinary quality;. Canterbury, Bid per lb for light weight; heavy weights, fours, B£d; other than Canterbury, Bgd for best quality light weight. Beef.— Prime New Zealand beef is not quoted, as the quantity available is too small. New Zealand cow sides are selling at 7d per lb ; chilled hinds, 9|d per lb ; fores, Bd. Butter.— The market remains firm. Danish, quiet, per cwt, 150s to 152s and up to 1545 ; New Zealand offerings are small, 142s to 144s and up to 146s ; Australian, in good demand, small stock, 138s to 140s, and exceptionally 1425; Siberian, in good demand, 128s to 132s ; Irish creameries, steady demand, 140s to 1425, And up to 1445; Argentine, 1365. Cheese.— The marke,t is steady, with an improved demand. * Canadian, quiet, white, per cwt, 92s to 93s and up to 94s ; coloured, 90s io 925 ; New Zealand, market quiet, but steady, white, 94s to 965 : coloured, 92s to 94s ; United States, quiet, , 86s to 925, according to quality and size. Hemp.--The market is quiet but steady. New Zealand good, fair grade, per ton, £32 10s; fair, £30 10s; failcurrent Manila. £38 10s. Forward shipment: New Zealand good, fair, £31 15s ; fair, £29 10s ; Manila, £38. The output from Manila for the week was 17,000 bales. Hops.— -The market is firm. It is reported that the fly is attacking plantations. English, per cwt, 90s to 115s: Californian, 75s to 105s. Wool.~The market is quiet, with a good demand. Wheat.— The market is steady. Canadian, June to July shipment, 52s 3d per quarter ; American, July to August, 44s 9d. Argentine not quoted. Oats. — The market is quiet. Argen* tine, June to July, 25s per quarter. _ Wolfram.— 33s to 34s per unit. Scheelite: 32s to 335. Antimony ore: £15 per ton.
