GERMANS WORK FOR ALLIES.
The Bridgeport correspondent of the New York Herald says t — Eight thousand of the 29,000 men who are making war munitions for the Allies in the arms and ammunition factories in Connecticut are of German birth or parentage, according to inspectors who are familiar with the various nationalities represented by the employees. Many German machinists, die-sinkers, toolmakers, and inventors have come to Connecticut since the war began. They are working side by side with English, Irish, Swedish, and French artisans in turning 1 out the nearly 100,000 tons a day of war material which Connecticut is shipping for the allied armies. Men who have worked in the arsenals of Germany declare that German products cannot match in destructiveness those of the American output, which is flowing in a daily stronger and steadier stream to the Allies. Some of these German workmen Bay that in helping to encompass the defeat of the Kaiser they are doing a greater service for the German people than they could if they should aid him in prolonging the war.
