SIKH RELIGIOUS FEELING.
Recently the Sikhs in CalcattA were vary excited over the proposal of the Calcutta Improvement Trust to acquire premises Nos. 153 and 153/1, Machcobbazar street, in •which are their temples of Guroo Nanafc and Guroo Gobind Sing. They strongly resented the acquisition of their temples to the exclusion of the temples of the Hindus, mosques of the Mahomedans, and churches of Christians. They mustered in large numbers to represent their gribvances before Mr. Bompas, the Chairman of the Improvement Trust and other members of the committee. Their case was that to remove the sacred "Grantho" (book) from their temples was a sacrilege and contrary to the practice of their religion. TEeir excitement was greatly allayed by the considerate hearing of their case by the members of the committee. They held that the Sikhs are the most loyal and law-abiding subjects of His Majesty the King-Emperor and that their religious susceptibilities will be as much regarded as those of other communities. After the hearing of their case they were satisfied" that their representation would not be ignored.
