Railwaymen will regret to hear that Pte. Frank Langridge has been reported killed in action. He was for some four or five years a member of the Ist Division of the Railway Service, and has been stationed at different times at Wel« lington, Marton, Wanganui, and elsewhere. Regarding Sergt. Hartley V. Palmer, reported killed in action, he is the only eon of Mr. H. T. Palmer, of Bright water (Nelson). Twice the doctor refused to pass him, but, nothing daunted, he tried again and got through, and then decided to forego his stripes to get a place in the Main Force. He was in the thick of the Canal fight with No. 9 Platoon. He was one of the many ©on firmed by the Bishop of Jerusalem at Cairo. > Trooper G. C. Jackson, reported a* having died of wounds, was a son of Mr. G. A Jackson, of Hamilton, and a graadson of the late Hon. J. Bryce, Wanganui. He was educated at the Wanganui Collegiate School, and later took his degree at the Victoria University College. He was a successful college athlete, and in 1912 secretary of the Victoria College Students' Association. Cpl. E. Phillips, killed in action, was to the staff of the Feilding High School when he enlisted. He was a well-known athlete in the Wellington and Manawatu districts. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Phillips, reside at Utiku.
