HEAVY RAIN
♦ The threatening conditions of the past day or so culminated this morning in a heavy, continuous downpour of rain, thus bearing out the official x forecast published in last night's Post. The rain will probably be very welcome, especially in those places where the ground has been exceptionally dry for this time of the year. The weather has been unsettled,, cloudy, and misty generally, and rain has fallen in many parts. In the South there has been, more snow. The Dominion Meteorologist states that "a disturbance of considerable magnitude and intensity is now apparently located to the westward of the Dominion." The immediate prospect is for very t stormy weather, heavy rains, flooded rivers, and snow on the higher levels of both islands. Northerly winds will probably prevail, and very low barometric pressure is expected. Warning_ signals for northerly gales are exhibited at various coastal points.
