ICCOMMODATION FOR WOUNDED
The trustees of the Boys' Institute lave offered, through the Mayor of Wel"idgton, to place their new building in Pieman-street, near the Basin Reserve, at; the disposal of the Government for the purpose of providing for the wounded who will be returning to Wellington frdrti the battlefront. The Institute, if its; offer is accepted, seeks the co-opera-tion of the City Council in fitting out this building for hospital purposes. Discufeing the' proposal with a Post reporter to*day, the Mayor said the building should be of considerable assistance for ' some time to come, since it would hold at;;least eighty to one hundred beds, and already possessed all sanitary conveniences necessary. The question of fit-ting-up would be considered at the council^, meeting on Thursday next. He was sure that he could say, on behalf of the | council, that they wished to do all that ,wafe possible to, assist the Government in^seeing that wounded men were pro- . periy cared for. Recently, an offer was made to erect a temporary hospital building, in co-operation with the Hospital^, Board. If, on investigation, the conditions were favourable, the Insti-tute~"pi-op6s'al might be substituted for ihe^ original plan.
